LOCAL GROUP KEEPS TROOPS COOL

With some camo green material, a little bit of thread and a lot of work, a group of ladies with the Hill Country Amateur Radio Club have stitched together nearly 700 “cool ties” for U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Marilyn Vordenbaum, secretary of the local club, said about seven women from the club meet once a week to work on the ties. They began making the cotton tubes sized to fit around the neck in late September.
